Pregnant Oregonians need more addiction and mental health support — but the state’s network is fragile
Substance use and mental health disorders are driving more maternal deaths in Oregon than any other cause
The federal agency NOAA took a step toward full ecosystem management yesterday when it banned krill fishing inside 200 miles of the coast of Washington, Oregon and California in an attempt to protect the Pacific food web, according to the Associated Press. Although krill fishing isn't typical on the West Coast, the ruling comes after population declines of krill in 2003 and 2005 resulted in lowered rockfish populations and starving sea birds off the California coast. Krill are prey for salmon and whales as well.
