Jim Simon is currently an adjunct journalism instructor at the University of Washington. He is the former managing editor of Honolulu Civil Beat, a nonprofit focused on in-depth reporting in Hawaii and the Pacific. Simon is also the former managing editor of the Seattle Times, where he spent more than 30 years as an editor and reporter. In addition to helping lead Times’ teams that won Pulitzer Prizes in 2010 and 2015, his own investigative reporting on environment and mental health issues in the Northwest has won national awards.
